A VIN or registration number and whether you are the buyer or seller are enough.

You do not have to visit the office together
For an in-person transfer, the former and new owners normally act together. If either party is represented under a power of attorney, the principal's signature must be officially certified. Representation is therefore useful if you do not want to coordinate a joint appointment and visit the register personally.
You have 10 working days to transfer ownership
The application to change the owner must be submitted within 10 working days of ownership passing. Failure to meet this obligation can result in a fine of up to CZK 50,000. The transfer can be handled by any Czech municipal authority with extended powers.
What about the vehicle identity inspection?
Its validity was significantly extended from July 2025. Many vehicles no longer need a fresh inspection for every transfer. Validity depends primarily on the vehicle's age and the validity of its roadworthiness inspection.
You do not need to establish this yourself. We check whether anything further is needed for your particular vehicle.
How much does the transfer cost?
The administrative fee for an in-person ownership change of a four-wheeled motor vehicle is CZK 800. An electronic application through the Czech Transport Portal receives a 20% reduction to CZK 640. Our service fee is separate and quoted in advance according to the required scope.
